- Will a €20 thermostat work for my new condensing boiler?
It will work (turn on and off). But it's a huge mistake. A simple ON/OFF thermostat will tell the boiler: "start at 100% power, and when you reach 21ºC, turn off abruptly". This inefficiency destroys the gas savings of condensation. You need a MODULATING thermostat (with eBus or similar protocols) that 'speaks' with the boiler to tell it: "It's one degree short, only turn on at 20% power and keep the flame low to spend the minimum".
- What happens if my Wi-Fi goes down at home?
You don't lose heating. Smart thermostats will continue executing the last schedule saved in their internal memory, and you can always press the physical buttons on the wall device to manually raise or lower the temperature.
- I have no cables from the boiler to the living room. Do I have to do works?
Not at all. 90% of the smart thermostats we install are wireless. We install a small box (receiver) connected with cables directly under the boiler, and you can take the screen thermostat to the living room or room you prefer.
